Note: Most of the Sida acuta we purchase is now grown on a small farm here in upstate NY. Grown with love and without chemicals, the radiant Sida plants we process from this fertile farm are high in quality and plant constituents. We also import some Sida from Cameroon or Ghana when needed. The taste of the Sida can be a little different depending on the source, growing conditions, soil type and overall environment. But be assured all are excellent sources!
Origin: USA and Africa
About: Sida acuta (aka common Wireweed) was originally a native plant of Mexico and Central America, but can now be found in many tropical areas around the world. It may be considered an invasive and troublesome weed by some, but this botanical has many qualities and actions.
Sida leaf has been shown to support and protect red blood cells, glutathione production and the liver. This plant contains the alkaloid cryptolepine.
A member of the Malvaceae family, (think hibiscus, okra and mallow) the leaves are decidedly cool and demulcent, as well as tasty!
