About: Uncaria tomentosa is a woody vine native to the rain forest regions of Central and South America, growing on mountain slopes of old growth rainforest. The source of Uncaria that we use is from Peru. The vine has hook-like thorns that resemble the claws of a cat, giving the plant its name. It has been used as an herbal medicine by several native tribes for many generations. There are many indications for the use of this plant and research continues to unveil its attributes.
