Safety considerations: None noted

Herb Profiles:

Chaga: is mainly found in birch forests in the northern regions of the globe. The Chaga sterile conk with its rough, blackened external form is gathered from live birch trees. In North America this is often the Yellow Birch (Betula lutea). The inner part of the Chaga is a golden-brown color which is quite cork-like. Both the inner and outer parts of the Chaga are used in preparing a whole Chaga extract. Chaga supports overall health, including immune, digestive and endocrine systems and the skin.

Cordyceps: has been revered in in traditional medicine, especially in parts of Asia, for over a thousand years.  Once harvested from the wild, Cordyceps is now commercially cultivated. It is a popular mushroom used as a dry powder or liquid extract. We use both the mushroom and mycelium in preparing our Cordyceps extract. Cordyceps supports the kidneys, endocrine, respiratory, immune and is used for its warming quality

Lions Mane: is a beautiful, shaggy looking mushroom that is a delicious edible which reminds us of cauliflower in color and form.  Nourishing to eat, Lion’s mane is considered a supplement for supporting overall immune function, cardiovascular and nervous system, the brain and mood support.

Maitake: In Japan, Maitake is called the “dancing mushroom” since one would dance with delight when discovering this delicious choice mushroom in the wild. Maitake can be used fresh or dried in cooking, also in powder form or as an alcohol extract. We use powders of both the fruiting body (mushroom) and mycelium in our Maitake extract. Also known as Hen of the Woods, Maitake is a rich source of beta-glucans and along with its nutritional profile supports the immune, digestive, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Best taken daily for an extended period of time.

Reishi: has a long history of use in China and Japan. The two species we use in preparing our Reishi extract are Ganoderma luciidum and Ganoderma tsugae. We gather the G. tsugae, which grows on dead Eastern Hemlock trees and stumps, during the early summer days in pristine evergreen woodlands. Reishi mushroom supports the immune, endocrine, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous systems, as well as supporting energy and stamina.

Shiitake: Native to East Asia, is cultivated worldwide as a delicious edible that encourages good health. Shitake also contains eight essential amino acids and a type of essential fatty acid called linoleic acid. Lentinan, a polysaccharide isolated from Shiitake’s fruiting body and mycelium, has been well studied and is thought responsible for Shiitake's ability to support the immune, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, and digestive systems.

Turkey Tails: Each autumn we happily head out to our local woodlands to search for these beautiful  mushrooms which grow on dead and decaying hardwood logs. Their multi-colored surface do remind one of the bands of a wild turkey’s tail. We prepare our Turkey Tail extract with the fruiting mushrooms themselves, along with organically grown mycelium. This mushroom supports the respiratory, urinary, digestive, immune and cardiovascular systems.
