About: Uva ursi leaves which have long been used to support the urinary tract with their soothing, cooling nature also have stabilizing and restorative action. Also known as Bearberry, this dark green ground cover rambles over acidic, sandy wild places, both in woodlands and by the shore. Uva ursi stretches lovely vine-like evergreen tendrils, growing longer and spreading wider over time. Pink-white urn-shaped flowers in the spring turn to dry red berries come autumn. Truly, this is a stunning plant that has been used by Indigenous peoples for centuries.
We gather Uva ursi in the spring when the fresh new growth is abundant, letting the plants guide us, and promptly prepare the extract. A few common herbs that blend well with Uva ursi for supporting urinary tract health are Cornsilk, Yarrow, Violet and Cleavers.
