Botanical name: Coleus forskohlii, aka Coleus barbatus 

Ayurvedic name: Makandi

Part used: Dried roots

Ingredients: Dry Coleus roots, certified organic non-GMO cane alcohol, pure Adirondack water and non-GMO organic vegetable glycerin (not palm or soy).

Percentage of alcohol used: 45%

Ratio plant to menstruum: 1:3.5

Safety considerations: Avoid with insulin/hypoglycemic, hypotensive, anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs. Stop 7-10 days before surgery. Not to be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

About: Coleus is a member of the mint family that grows in the lower foothills of India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Thailand and has long been an important herb in Ayurvedic medicine, with a wide variety of traditional uses. This pungent, heating herb supports heart health and the cardiovascular, digestive and respiratory systems, along with supporting the mitochondria, (the energy making part of our cells) and certain skin challenges. In Ayurvedic practice, Coleus is said to restore the body’s overall terrain, while renewing a sense of calm and centeredness. Qualities: pungent taste, light, dry, heating.
